Now, you no longer need to leave the Island for natural looking, permanent hair restoration procedures. The smart option to restore your hair is right here in Mayagüez, at Dr. Latoni’s office. We are the sole providers in Puerto Rico of SmartGraft®, a combination of technology and precision artistry to recover your natural hairline permanently, without scarring.

SmartGraft® is a smart option for both women and men seeking natural looking hair restoration. This procedure is more precise than other methods of capillary grafting, and it is less invasive. The process known as FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) offers great results, a faster recovery rate and less downtime. Local anesthesia is applied to enhance your comfort and relaxation during the FUE hair transplant procedure, which is completed in one day.

Prior to the transplant procedure, you will be professionally evaluated by a specialist to verify that you are a suitable candidate. Fortunately with this new state-of-the-art technology, unique to Puerto Rico, almost everyone is an ideal candidate!

On the day of the procedure, a design that harmonizes with your facial anatomy is outlined on your head to create the most natural looking results. Then, each area is examined and prepared carefully prior to extraction and grafting. Hair follicles are obtained from a donor area, usually the back of your head. These are then inserted carefully and strategically in the targeted areas.

FAQs

What is a FUE transplant?

The globally-recognized FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method is the most advanced and least invasive hair follicle implant technique available. It is carried out without incisions nor stitches to avoid scarring, reduce discomfort and facilitate healing. This technology has been acquired by Dr Latoni so that his patients experience a quicker, more precise and less invasive hair transplant process.

What are the most notable benefits of a FUE hair follicle transplant in comparison to traditional methods?

The FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method is known for its quick recovery rate. Traditional transplant techniques remove a section of the scalp, involving stitches and a lengthy six week recovery period, whereas the FUE micro-transplant method employs specially-designed instruments and techniques to avoid scarring. Patients are able to return to their normal  routine after a downtime of three to five days, and it isn’t necessary to cover the treated area.

Who is an ideal candidate for FUE?

Good news! The majority of people experiencing hair loss are candidates for FUE. It is ideal for athletes and professionals who don’t have time for a lengthy recovery process. Because there is no scarring, this is the preferred option for individuals with short hairstyles. FUE is also used to hide scarring from a prior hair transplant.

Are FUE results different from a traditional linear transplant?

The end results of both methods are very similar, except for the scarring from the traditional, more invasive surgery. The most notable difference is in the number of persons involved in the procedure and their skill level. Using micro-surgical tools, the FUE specialist manually extracts and artfully grafts each follicle with precision and without incisions or stitches.

Can FUE be used for both women and men?

Yes. The procedure adjusts to the natural hair growth of both genders.

Is it necessary to shave my head for the procedure?

No. Only the donor area is shaved on persons with long hair.

How do I know if I’m a good candidate for FUE?
